Patricia Nelson Obituary

Patricia Nelson, 62, of Idaho Falls, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Patricia was born June 12, 1951, in Downers Grove, Ill., to Ralph Ester Rice and Halli Decker Martin Rice. She grew up and attended schools in Illinois before moving to Idaho, where she graduated from Skyline High School. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Alaska.

Patricia worked as a microbiologist for Alaska British Petroleum.

In 1972, she married Todd Nelson in Grand Teton National Park. To this union was born one son, Daniel. They were later divorced.

Patricia loved to ski and enjoyed nature, bird watching and visiting the National Parks.

Patricia is survived by her son, Daniel (Anna) Nelson of Denver; granddaughter, Aubrey Nelson of Denver; grandsons, Nicholas Nelson and Gabriel Nelson, both of Denver; sister, Karen (Jeff Gardetto) Rice of Idaho Falls; and niece, Jamie Aslett.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
