Reed Thomas Richins, 81, of Idaho Falls, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born Oct. 13, 1930, in Ogden, Utah, to Joseph Ether Richins and Julia Cherry Richins. He attended schools in the Teton Valley and soon after joined the Army, serving during World War II, where he loved to play baseball.
Reed married Flora Hillman on March 18, 1955. She passed away in January 1990.
Reed married Beverly Dawn Monson on Aug. 24, 1990, in Blackfoot.
He lived during his lifetime in the Teton Valley, Blackfoot and Ammon areas. He worked with the USDA (Farmers Home Administration) as a home inspector. Reed was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He loved hunting and fishing, never failing to fill his and others' tags. This love he instilled upon his children and grandchildren.
Reed is survived by his wife, Beverly of Ammon; sons, Jeff (Laurie) Richins of Malad, Idaho, Tom (Kay) Richins of Felt, Idaho, and Joe (LyDee) Richins of Ammon; daughter, Connie (Boyd) Guymon of Driggs; brother, Alva (Nora) Richins of Jackson, Wyo.; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Flora; brothers, Mike, Alma and Keith; and sisters, Amy and Veda.
Funeral services will be on Reed's 82nd birthday at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Wood Funeral Home East Side Chapel, 963 S. Ammon Road, with Bishop Chad Murdock officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday prior to services, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Victor Cemetery in Victor, Idaho.
