Rex J. Andersen Obituary

Rex J. Andersen of Arco was killed Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, while snowmobiling in Neely Cove near Palisades Lake in Bonneville County.

Rex was born Sept. 9, 1974, in Arco to Larman Dee and Ann Stocks Andersen and was the youngest of seven children. Rex grew up in the Lost River Valley. He attended Butte High School, where he participated in sports, served on the student council and became the student body president. He later served as a missionary for the LDS church in the Hartford, Connecticut, Mission. Following his mission, Rex attended Ricks College and Idaho State University.

Rex was married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple to his beautiful wife, Holly Hillman, on June 11, 2004. Rex was blessed to become an instant father to Jessica Joy and Jacob Dixon. Two additional sons, Ryan Rex and Randy James, were later born and made their family complete.

Rex was mechanically inclined and demonstrated, from an early age, an uncanny ability to operate and fix machinery and heavy equipment. These talents and abilities came in handy in his job at the INL, where he worked as a crane operator/supervisor for the past eight years at NRF. His love for operating machinery also led to starting his own business, Andersen Excavation.

Rex had a passion for hard work, sports and the great outdoors. He was an avid hunter and loved to spot and photograph animals, as well as to snowmobile, motorcycle and four-wheel.

Rex was preceded in death by his father, Larman Dee Andersen; and his siblings, Linda Lee Trulson and Dee Larman Andersen.

He is survived by his wife, Holly Hillman Andersen; his children, Jessica Joy, Jacob, Ryan Rex and Randy James; his mother, Ann Andersen Johnson; and his siblings, Joel Stocks (Belva) Andersen, LaNae (Travis) Griffiths, Lorraine (Scott) Pierce and Annette (Chris) Yorgason.

Rex will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, at the Moore LDS Stake Center. A viewing will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 29, at Anderson Family Funeral Home, 2555 N. Highway 93 in Arco, and for one hour Monday prior to services at the church. Interment will be in Lost River Cemetery.
