Robert Lee Stringham Obituary

Robert Lee Stringham, 82, of Idaho Falls, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at his home.

He was born Nov. 9, 1930, in Rupert, Idaho, to Thomas LaVon Stringham and Molly Marie Ludwig Stringham. He graduated from Ucon High School in 1947 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force the same year; he served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1952.

During that time, he worked with auto equipment and was a technician in Fort Warren, Wyo. He received a Farm and Home Science Certificate from Ricks College and a Television Servicing Certificate from Commercial Trades Institute in Chicago.

On July 17, 1953, he married Mary Jean Cook in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were blessed with four daughters. Robert farmed in the Milo area throughout his life; he also worked at the Site, was head custodian for District 93 and owned and operated the Menan Market.

Robert is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; he served in the Bishopric, as stake Sunday School president, in the Young Men's organization and in Scouting. He enjoyed farming and loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His family was his life.

He is survived by his daughters, Peggy (Russ) Rowberry, Christine (Kevin) Forbush and Teresa (Jim) Kruckeberg, all of Idaho Falls; sisters, Fern (Walter) Fluke of Spokane, Wash., and Bonnie (Lon) Bright of Nampa, Idaho; 24 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his daughter, Angela Mary Stringham; and brothers, David Billy Stringham and Floyd Ray Stringham.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Milo LDS Chapel, with Bishop Allan Johnson conducting. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main St. in Rigby, and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Ucon Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
