Ruby La Rue Montague Obituary
On Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, our beloved mother, Ruby, continued her journey in our Heavenly Father's plan for His children. She was at home in Nampa, Idaho, surrounded by her loving family, and her four-legged friend, Tyson, was laying at her side.
Ruby was born July 30, 1922, in Rose, Idaho, to William and Merilda Humphries. One of 11 children, she was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she was baptized Aug. 2, 1930.
She served in the Primary, Relief Society, Sunday school, Mutual, and was a den mother in Cub Scouts. Temple work was a touchstone in her life.
On June 9, 1939, she married Arthur Glen Montague in Rigby. Their marriage was later solemnized Dec. 15, 1988, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. For nearly 60 years, they made their home in Idaho Falls.
Ruby is survived by three children, Robert Glen Montague of Burley, Idaho, Linda Ireland and Terry Lynn Montague, both of Nampa; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Ruby is also survived by five brothers, Dean, Len, Jess, Jerry and Ronald Humphries; and three sisters, Bertha Baxter, Leah Hill and Marvel Yates.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Ruth Ciesieliske; and one brother, Deloy Humphries.
Mom loved to be out in her flower gardens and her yard. She was a voracious reader, loved Hawaiian music, crossword puzzles, played the piano, enjoyed sunrises and sunsets, and treasured her time with family and her constant shadow, her dog, Tyson.
Mom was a gentle and sweet spirit who believed one of God's best gifts was that of making friends, a gift that came easily and often to her.
The family visited with friends for a viewing from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Ave. South in Nampa. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Coltman First Ward, 12448 N. Fifth East in Idaho Falls, with Bishop Blair Sautter officiating. Family will visit with friends for a viewing from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Saturday prior to the service. Interment will be held at Grant Cemetery immediately following the service.
