Ruth Marion Jacobsen Andrus, 89, of Idaho Falls, passed away Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at her home. She was under the care of Hearts for Hospice.
Ruth was born March 8, 1925, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Oluf George Jacobsen and Amelia Parramore Jacobsen. She grew up and attended schools in Salt Lake City and graduated from South High School on State Street.
On Sept. 19, 1942, she married Ernest Leroy Andrus at Evanston, Wyo. To this union were born five children, Kathy, Linda, Jacqueline, Pamela and Ernie. Ruth and Ernest made their home in Idaho Falls. During World War II, she worked as a riveter. As the owners of ABC Furnace Cleaners, they were actively involved in the community. Ruth worked as a secretary and a bookkeeper for their home business, but her main occupation was as a homemaker.
She was a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening, embroidery, sewing, traveling, camping and spending time with her family.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Kathy (John) Quick and Pamela Holverson, both of Idaho Falls; son, Ernest (Cindy) Andrus of Idaho Falls; brothers, George (Becky) Jacobsen of Reno, Nev., and Richard Jacobsen of Tremonton, Utah; sister, Shirley Black of Idaho Falls; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters, Linda Andrus and Jacqueline Bell; and a grandson, Eric Bell.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. in Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Thursday prior to services. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
