Shirley Kaye Parker Obituary

Shirley Kaye Stoddard Parker, 93, of Blackfoot, passed away Friday, Sept. 27, 2013.

She was the oldest daughter of Phyllis Jane Oldham and LeRoy Glen Stoddard and had survived her siblings Lila, Gordon, Keith and Cork.

Shirley spent her childhood summers in the company of her beloved family at the Stoddard Sawmill in Island Park, and attended school in Rexburg during the winter months. She loved to reminisce about her time as a member of the Pepper club with her closest friends, Afton, Tonk and Perk. She graduated from Madison High School and then continued her education for two years at Ricks College.

She eloped to Shoshone Falls, Idaho, with Elbert R. Parker on April 15, 1939. Together they were the proud parents of twins Jeanne and Jeri, followed by Robert "Bobby" and Kathleen "Kathi." They raised their children in Idaho and California.

Shirley was happiest in the company of her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her face would light up when she was able to hold and cuddle the babies in her family.

She was a woman of elegance, gentleness and wit. These qualities and the faith she held fast to enabled her to meet the difficulties that came her way. She became a pillar of strength for her family, who stayed at her bedside in her last days, ministering to her with the love she had extended to her beloved family. She stands now as a great example of faith and endurance.

She is survived by her children, Jeanne (Danny) Roth, Jeri Parker and Kathi (Frank) Tomazin; and grandchildren, Kirk (Linnea) Belnap, Lori (Shawn) Dolan, Kristin (Rich) Ballou, Heather (Darin) Peel, Amy (Josh) Chenney, Michele True, Megan (Brett) Christensen, Lacie (Nick) Hirschi, Brody (Katie) Tomazin and Brett Tomazin. She is also survived by 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Parker; son, Robert "Bobby" Sinclair Parker; and great-grandchildren, Lisa Belnap and Kerry Belnap.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave. in Blackfoot. The family will meet with friends from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will be at 3 p.m. in Riverview Cemetery in St. Anthony.
