Tim Thomson Obituary

Tim Beck Thomson, 76, of Sugar City, left this world to join with relatives and friends Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Tim was born, March 13, 1938, to Royle and Mary Thomson. He lived in Sugar City all his life.

He met Irene Ellis at Ricks College at a dance; after he served a mission to New Zealand and when she graduated from Ricks College with her LPN, they were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on Sept. 2, 1960.

Tim worked at Roger Brothers and Lewisville Fresh Pak, owned and operated a topsoil business since 1962, farmed and ran a dairy with his father, and worked at the Nelson Ricks Creamery. He also worked as a church custodian for 91/2 years. Tim worked for the Madison School District in food service for about three years. He retired in 1998.

Tim was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including assistant Scoutmaster, taking leaders and Scouts on trail rides, counselor in the Elders Quorum Presidency with Merrill Pincock, and as ward librarian for five years. He loved temple work, and in one day baptized 348 people.

He also served as a 4-H leader, teaching about horses and trail riding. Tim was in charge of purchasing food for the pioneer breakfast for many years.

He was a good husband, father and grandfather, and a good neighbor and friend to all he came in contact with.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Thomson of Sugar City; children, Kevin Tim (Malinda Simon) Thomson, Barry Lane Thomson, Kim (Daren) Hiner, Terrell Scott (fiancée Nicole Griffith) Thomson; 10 grandchildren, Brittany (Tony) Scott, Nick Hiner, Bryan Hiner, Steven Tim (Kathleen Davenport) Thomson, KaeLeigh Thomson, T.J. Thomson, Cicily Thomson, Agustus "Gus" Thomson, Hannah Thomson and Sophie Thomson; and brothers and sisters, Marge Lords, Van B. (Macel Rasmussen) Thomson, Roy Beck (Karen Stander) Thomson and Judy Thomson.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents; son, Stephen B. Thomson; brother, John Thomson; and sister, Mary Ann (Claude) Mariano.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 5, at the Sugar City Stake Center. The family will visit with friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Sugar City 2nd and 4th Ward LDS Church on Main Street (Gray Building) and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the stake center. Burial will be in Sugar City Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
