Venice Gayle Croft Whitehead, 72, of Idaho Falls, passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at The Gables Senior Living in Ammon.
Venice was born Jan. 12, 1940, in Idaho Falls to Eldon Thornton Croft and Elma Moss Croft. She attended Iona Elementary School and graduated from Bonneville High School.
On Oct. 24, 1958, she married her high school sweetheart, Larry Boyd Whitehead, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together they raised five children.
Venice was a mother and homemaker. She also worked at U&I Sugar, the Skyview Drive-In and drove bus for School District No. 93.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a Girls Camp director, church librarian, and Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed camping, golfing, fishing, the outdoors and farming with her dad.
Venice leaves behind her daughters, Janet (Albert) Richan, Susan (Bryan) Clark and Deb (Jeff) Skinner, all of Idaho Falls; sons, Mike (Debbie) Whitehead and Brad (Julie) Whitehead, both of Idaho Falls; sisters, Irene (Darrol) Gardner and Sydney (Dell) Robertson, both of Idaho Falls, and Joyce (Dusty) Hincks of Swan Valley, Idaho; brother, Lloyd T. (Terri) Croft of Idaho Falls; 19 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Elma; her father, Eldon; and her husband, Larry.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Iona LDS church, 4707 E. Iona Road, with Bishop Randon Anderson of the Iona 3rd Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Iona Cemetery.
