Wilford Koster, 83, of Ucon, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center from heart failure.
Wilford was born Nov. 18, 1930, in Idaho Falls to Pieter Koster and Adriana Katrina DeWit Koster. He grew up with his six brothers and one sister in Coltman and graduated from Ucon High School.
He served his country as an airman first class in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
On July 15, 1955, he married Joyce Marie Hill in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Wilford worked as a brick mason and farmer. They lived most of their married life in Ucon, but worked for a few years in Las Vegas and St. George, Utah. They raised their two sons, Terry and Paul, in Ucon. Joyce passed away May 24, 2009.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Wilford served in various capacities over the years. He and Joyce served a building mission in New Zealand from 1960 to 1962.
He enjoyed traveling, family history, spending time with family eating and visiting, and driving Joyce "Miss Daisy" around town.
Wilford is survived by his sons, Terry Koster of Ucon and Paul (Nikki) Koster of Castle Rock, Colo.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joyce, and his siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 17, at the Ucon LDS Ward, 10854 N. 41st East. The family will visit with friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Monday prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Ucon Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
