Norwood B. "Woody" Warner, 90, of Idaho Falls, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014, at his home of cancer. He was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice.
Woody was born Sept. 6, 1923, in Rawlins, Kan., to Bert Warner and Elsie Swanson Warner. He grew up and attended schools in Rawlins and graduated from Rawlins High School. He served as a medic in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On March 4, 2006, he married Margaret Antkowiak in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. Woody and Marge made their home in Idaho Falls. Woody worked as an engineer for a Wyoming coal plant.
He was a member of the Idaho Falls Berean Baptist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, nature and playing pool with his friends.
Woody is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Warner of Idaho Falls; two sons, Steve (Kathleen) Warner of Casper, Wyo., and Kevin (Penny) Warner of Holland, Mich.; daughter, Ginny (Scott) Herreid of Brookings, S.D.; three sisters, Eunice Veach of Fresno, Calif., Arlene Klase of Galena, Mont., and Marjorie (Boyce) Wilson of Rogers, Alaska; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gerald Warner of Dewitt, Mich.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at Berean Baptist Church, 2975 E. First St., with Pastor Todd Wood officiating. The family will visit with friends following the services at the church. Military rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
