Barbara Jean Eckersley Richards, 81, of Idaho Falls, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Barbara was born May 25, 1932, in Idaho Falls to Francis Alonzo Eckersley and Velma Hansen Eckersley.
She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. She was a lifelong resident of Ammon.
On Oct. 17, 1950, she married Grant Thomas Richards in Idaho Falls.
Barbara was a homemaker and mother and also worked as a clerk at Speedy Mart for 10 years.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Cub Scout leader and visiting teacher. She enjoyed fishing, camping and taking vacations with her family. She loved cake decorating, quilting for babies and her family, and loved spending time with them.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Grant Richards of Idaho Falls; daughters, Laraina (Michael) Landon of Firth and Bobbett Jensen of Idaho Falls; sons, Ralph Thomas Richards of Firth, Bruce (Coy) Richards of Milo, Idaho, Roy (Cindy) Richards of Idaho Falls and Rex (Susan) Richards of Iona; brother, LaMont (Sue) Eckersley of California; sisters, Delores (Wes) Hudman of Shelley and LaDene (Max) Lyon of Ammon; 23 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Wallace Alonzo Eckersley; and a sister, Jeraldene Gardner.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, at the Ammon LDS 10th Ward, 4375 E. Sunnyside Road, with Bishop Wes Wood officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
