Will Howard Thomas, 76, of Salmon, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014.
Will was born Aug. 22, 1937, in Robertson, Wyo., to Charles and Estelle Montgomery Thomas. The family moved to Salmon in 1943. Will Attended school in Salmon. After graduating in 1955, he worked for the Forest Service, helping to build bridges on the Middle Fork.
In 1957, he moved to Gashland, Mo., where he worked for the J.B. McCorkle Angus Farm. In 1958, he married Juanita Traughber of Salmon. They moved to Gooding, where they owned and operated a dairy farm.
Will was active as a Gooding county commissioner for two terms; a member of the County Sheriff's Posse and a 4-H leader. After raising his family and retiring, he moved back to Salmon, where they have lived for the last 15 years. He belonged to the Rocky Mountain Lodge No. 5, I.O.O.F. of Salmon, where he had been the Noble Grand the past year.
Will is survived by his wife, Juanita "Nita" of Salmon; three daughters, Patricia (Bill) Dawson of Pendleton, Ore., Janet (Thomas) Randall of Chubbuck, and Cynthia (Nick) Gonzales of Kuna; son, John (Lisa) Thomas of Kuna; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Edna (Ed) Stauber of Montana, Ann (Jerry) Hillis of Washington, and Jenelle Thomas of Salmon; one brother, Lynn (Heather) Thomas of Salmon; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Estelle; two siblings; and his stepmother, Virginia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, at Jones & Casey Funeral Home in Salmon. There will be a visitation and viewing from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday and for one hour before services Tuesday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Salmon Cemetery.
