Mary Jensen Obituary

Mary Lou Jensen, 64, of Idaho Falls, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014, at her home with family by her side. She was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice.

She was born March 13, 1950, in Amba, Ky., to Virgil Hall and Polly Ann Howell Hall. She grew up in Amba (Toler Creek area) with nine siblings. She had many stories to tell about growing up in Kentucky with her brothers and sisters and all of the good times she had with them and cousins and friends. She always had great memories and stories to tell about growing up in the South.

She was always a very spiritual person, a Christian. She studied the scriptures and prayed often. She did all things in the way of pleasing the Lord.

She had a passionate interest in growing beautiful flowerbeds and canning food from her garden (which included her famous raspberry jam, which everyone loved). Over the years, she made dolls and crafts and special homemade quilts that she loved to make for her family.

She loved the holidays; Christmastime was her favorite time of year. Her house would be decorated with villages, train sets and Santa Claus everywhere; it was magical. She always had a warm welcome for anyone that came into her home.

In 1976, she met Cleon Dean Jensen and they were married a month later. Mary and Cleon combined their love and children together and had a child of their own. With their family they made a home in the Taylor area of Idaho Falls. They had 37 wonderful years together in love, raising a family together and caring for each other.

Mary Lou was very proud of her family and had a huge love for her children and grandchildren. She was always there to help her children and her family with a warm heart, kindness and love with such a sweet soft Southern voice. She will be greatly missed and she leaves behind many wonderful memories for all of those who had the opportunity to know such a loving person.

Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 37 years, Cleon Jensen of Idaho Falls; daughter, Heather Harper and family (Patrick Patterson) of Idaho Falls; son, Danny Jensen and family (Shannon McCowin) of Idaho Falls; and 11 grandchildren, Braydon, Kaitlyn and Braxton Patterson, Presley, Kenedie and Gregory Jensen, Brandy Payne-Dederscheck, Austin Jensen, Christopher Jensen, Samuel Woods and Cameron White.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Dewey Covington; her parents, Polly and Virgil Hall; her sister, Bonnie Hall; her son, Dustin Jensen; a grandson, David Jensen; and several aunts and uncles that were dear to her heart.

The family would like to thank Hands of Hope Hospice for their loving care and compassion, and also Dorothy Kinney for all her love, time and care over the last several months; it truly has been a blessing for her sister and family.

Funeral services will be held at noon Monday, April 28, at Calvary Chapel, 4250 S. 25th East in Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W. Oak St. in Shelley, and one hour prior to services Monday at the church. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery.
