She grew up in the Archer area, graduating from Madison High School. She then attended Ricks College, where she graduated as a Registered Nurse. She married Reed Howell on Oct. 21, 1955, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They lived a few different places in the western United States before moving back to Archer, where they have lived the last 39 years.

Ada Lou was always active in the LDS Church, serving as ward organist, Relief Society President and as a temple ordinance worker for the last six years. She enjoyed quilting, playing the piano and family.

She is survived by her husband, Reed of Archer; children, Rock Sutton Howell of North Dakota, Kristine Cole of Lincoln, Neb., Scott David (Christina) Howell of Hyrum, Utah, Jeffery Lee Howell of Archer, Pamela (Dan) Mavis of Chippewa Falls, Wis., and Rebecca (David) Fugal of Roosevelt, Utah; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Stanley Sutton of Archer; and two sisters, Genevieve Heath of Salt Lake City, and Carol Mackay of Hibbard.
