MarDean Nyman Johnson, 97, of Idaho Falls, passed away Friday, May 23, 2014, at Morningstar Senior Living Center. She was under the care of Hearts for Hospice.
MarDean was born Dec. 3, 1916, in Logan, Utah, to James Henderson Nyman and Sarah Rebecca Miller Nyman. She grew up and attended North Logan Elementary in Logan and graduated from South Cache High School.
On Nov. 25, 1936, she married Dale P. Johnson in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. To this union were born seven children, Nyman, Karen, Karla, Reta, Rebecca, James and an infant daughter. MarDean and Dale made their home in Logan, Utah, before moving to Idaho Falls in 1956, where she spent the last 58 years. MarDean was a mother and homemaker.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Primary Teacher and Relief Society Visiting Teacher. She enjoyed crochet, gardening, travel and visiting with friends and family.
MarDean is survived by her sons, Nyman Dale Johnson and James Moses (Rose Marie) Johnson, both of Rigby; daughters, Karen J. (Edwin) Curnutt and Becky Jane (Steve) Forcey, both of Idaho Falls, Karla Jean (Peter) Tingley of Missoula, Mont., and Reta MarDean (James) Korbis of Pocatello; brother, Lloyd Nyman; sister, Ruth Johnson; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; parents; an infant daughter; brothers, Harvey Nyman and DeWayne Nyman; and her sister, Bonnie Breazeale.
The family would like to give thanks to Hearts for Hospice, and for the care of the staff of Morningstar Senior Living Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. in Idaho Falls, with Tom Albaugh officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
