DeEsta Cureton Obituary

DeEsta Cureton, 61, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt died Friday, June 20, 2014, in her home in Chester, Idaho.

DeEsta was born May 17, 1953, in Ashton, the daughter of Larry and Geraldine Curr. She graduated from South Fremont High School in 1971 and then went on to Career Beauty College and studied to be a beautician.

After graduating from beauty college, DeEsta accepted a marriage proposal from her sweetheart, William Thomas Cureton, and on July 7, 1972, they eloped to the Rexburg Courthouse. Their marriage was later solemnized Feb. 28, 1975, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together they had three children, Nicholas, Laurel and Alex. They raised their family in the Chester area.

DeEsta was an active member of the LDS Church and held many positions including nursery, Relief Society president, Scout leader and Primary leader.

DeEsta's passions in life included quilting beautiful blankets, cooking, baking wonderful food and traveling. One of her absolute favorite things to do was taking her motorcycle for a ride during a warm summer day. She loved the feeling of freedom and enjoyed most rides with her husband at her side.

DeEsta is survived by her husband, William Cureton; her mother, Geraldine Curr; her son, Nicholas (Heidi) and his three children Miklo, Mason and Matthew; her daughter, Laurel (Jeff) Young; and her son, Alex (Michelle) and his three children Addison, Ethan and Isabel; and four siblings, Glayde (Cathy) Curr, Diane (Jim) Fillerup, Daniel (Karen) Curr and Brian (Donna) Curr.

DeEsta was preceded in death by her father, Larry Curr; and a younger brother, Jim Curr.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 26, at the Ashton Stake Center with Bishop Michael McDonald officiating. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bidwell Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Thursday prior to services at the church. Interment will be in Chester Cemetery.
