Millie Ferguson Obituary

Mildred Irene "Millie" Ferguson, 83, of Idaho Falls, beloved mother, grandmother, godmother and friend, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014, surrounded by her family at Parkwood Meadows Assisted Living Center, and returned to her Heavenly Father. She was under the care of Encompass Home Care & Hospice.

Millie was born Nov. 13, 1930, in Baltimore to Franklin G. Howard and Margaret V. Treband Howard. She grew up and attended schools in Baynesville, Md., and attended Towson High School.

On June 8, 1947, she married John Russell Ferguson Sr. at the Baynesville Methodist Church. On Nov. 9, 1959, they were blessed with a son, John Russell Ferguson Jr.

Millie worked in payroll and cost accounting at Black & Decker in Towson, Md., and later in Hampstead, Md. She also worked at Joseph A. Bank in Hampstead, Md., in the clothing factory as a shaper and final inspector.

After her husband passed away in 2003, she moved to Idaho Falls to be with her son, daughter-in-law and two granddaughters. She loved being with her family, traveling and spending time with her granddaughters.

Her granddaughters, Kayla and Chantelle, were the joy of her life. She attended many baseball games, dance performances, dance competitions, school events and graduations. If they were in it, she was there. Her favorite time with her granddaughters was making numerous chocolate chip cookies with them.

Millie was an avid sports fan. Her favorite football team was the Baltimore Ravens. She enjoyed watching any sport; it didn't matter what sport, she would watch it.

While she was in Idaho Falls, she lived at Elk Creek Senior Community and Lincoln Court Assisted Living Center before moving to Parkwood Meadows.

Millie is survived by her son, John R. (Christine) Ferguson Jr. of Idaho Falls; two granddaughters, Kayla (Tevin) Chambers of Taylorsville, Utah, and Chantelle Tam of Ammon; and a sister, Della (Jack) Mink of Easton, Md.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two sisters, Viola Damewood and Frances Rudick Gore.

The family wishes to thank Parkwood Meadows Assisted Living and Encompass Home Health & Hospice staff for the outstanding and compassionate care they gave to Mom and our family.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 1, at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Timonium, Md.

Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.woodfuneralhome.com.
