Brian Handy Obituary

Brian Neal Handy, 46, of Bozeman, Mont., passed away Monday, July 21, 2014.

Brian was born Jan. 15, 1968, in Idaho Falls to Herman and Wanda (Nielsen) Handy. He received his B.S. in physics at Idaho State University, and then his Ph.D. in physics at Montana State University.

He enjoyed his work as Director of Citigroup Japan Holdings. It was in Japan that he met his wife, Mayumi. Brian then worked in Guam as a flight instructor at Trend Vector Aviation and an optical transmission engineer for GTA Teleguam, before founding his own business, Applied Handy, LLC.

Brian had a special ability to make friends everywhere he went, both in work and in his everyday life. People who worked with and for him held him in high regard and counted him as their friend. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hiking and bicycling, as well as ham radio and traveling. Brian had a great passion for flying as a private pilot and was a certified flight instructor.

Brian was preceded in death by his father, Herman Handy.

Survivors include his wife, Mayumi Handy; son, Mutsuki Handy; mother, Wanda Handy; and brothers, Dale (Connie), Gene (Xiomara), Norman and Kevin.

Cremation has taken place. Funeral services were in Idaho Falls with burial at Taylor Cemetery. Memorial services in Bozeman are pending. Arrangements are in the care of Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service.
