William Richard "Rick" Caldwell, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at his home.
He was born Nov. 26, 1928, in Sharon, Idaho, to William Staford Caldwell and Delta May Orr Caldwell. He grew up in the area and attended schools in Soda Springs, Idaho. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On March 31, 1950, he married Ilene H. Archibald in Reno, Nev. He served in the military for several years, receiving training as a surgical technician, and was also a farmer. He later worked at Walmart as a people greeter.
Rick was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, music and watching baseball and football games on Sunday. He especially loved his family and spending time with them.
Survivors are his wife, Ilene Caldwell of Idaho Falls; daughters, Vickie Coy of Idaho Falls, Paula (Ron) Baker of Idaho Falls, Debra (William) Fitch of Rigby, Lacindia Miller of Idaho Falls, Benita (Mike) McMinn of Idaho Falls and Jessica (Corbett) Knapp of Rigby; sons, Stewart Caldwell of Idaho Falls and Shannon Fullmer of Boise; sisters, NuRae Thompson, Nellie Linden and Tanya Bryant; 13 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Eugene Caldwell, Ronald Caldwell, Lavor Caldwell and Larrell Caldwell; a sister, Susie Caldwell; and a son-in-law, Dean Coy.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Rigby-Pioneer Cemetery with Steve Young officiating. The family will visit with friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave., prior to leaving for the cemetery.
