Andrew "Andy" Christian Johnson, 33, of Idaho Falls, passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at his home of an accidental firearm discharge.
Andy was born Dec. 30, 1978, in Idaho Falls to Rose Ann Staggie and Dan Henricksen. His parents later divorced. His mother married Deon Johnson, and he legally adopted Andy. He grew up in Idaho Falls and attended Skyline High School. He attended Eastern Idaho Technical College, where he completed his GED.
Andy began his career by carrying on the "legacy" of working for the city of Idaho Falls Parks Department (like most Staggies). Later he took a job with L.N. Johnson Paving. In 2007, he joined the Painters 764 Local Union and worked on countless projects at the INL. This past year, he traveled to North Dakota, where he worked with Swanson and Young Dale. He loved his job and traveling and the excitement of new places.
Andy returned to Idaho Falls last Thursday due to the passing of his Grandfather Staggie.
Andy was a devoted and loving son, father, brother, uncle and brother-in-law. A baby daughter, Kaylee Jo, was born to Andy and Gerri Zamaro. They later separated.
On May 20, 2005, Andy married Michelle Balangue in Las Vegas. They were blessed with a baby daughter, Areyana. They later divorced.
Andy loved anything and everything to do with the outdoors.
Andy was the happiest when he was surrounded by his friends and family. He always looked forward to all the special events and holidays that brought the family together. His love of life, family and friends, his infectious smile and sense of humor, along with his wild side, will leave lasting and treasured memories to everyone who has known him.
Andy is survived by his daughters; parents; sisters, Kim Staggie and Brandy Johnson; brothers, Rhett Henricksen and Michael (Angela) Henricksen; grandmother, Lillian Staggie; five nieces; two nephews; and a great-niece.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, James "Jim" Staggie and Robert "Bob" Johnson; grandmother, Louis Johnson; and uncle, James P. "Pete" Staggie Jr.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at the Eagles Lodge. A wake honoring Andy and his grandfather will be Saturday, Oct. 6, following his Grandfather Staggie's Celebration of Life, at the home of Mike and Angela, 2971 E. 97th South. Arrangements are under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. in Idaho Falls.
