Willard Taylor Obituary

Willard "Will" Carpenter Taylor, 64, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Menan, passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, in Mesa, Ariz.

He was born Sept. 1, 1948, in Idaho Falls to Russell Done Taylor and Amelia Carpenter Taylor. He was raised in Lorenzo and graduated from Rigby High School.

He continued his education at Ricks College.

On Nov. 16, 1979, he married Donna Jean Purser in Rigby. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa, Ariz., Temple. He served faithfully and honorably in the U.S. Army and retired from the National Guard.

Will was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He worked for the Idaho Department of Transportation as a construction inspector. He enjoyed raising and training horses, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Jean Taylor of Mesa; a brother, Ronald (Pat) Taylor of Washington; his children, Tawna Jean (Thane) Hiatt of Idaho Falls, Kayce Ray (Kevin) Westervelt and Lisa Marie (Joe) Shook, both of San Tan Valley, Ariz., Rhett Willard Taylor of Rigby and Clayne Russell Taylor of Twin Falls, Idaho; and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, James Scott Taylor; a grandson, Joshua James Hiatt; and his sister, Esther Elaine Taylor.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main St. in Rigby. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and for one hour prior to the funeral services Friday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
