Darwin Peter "Pete" Madsen, 86, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012, at his home in Bountiful, Utah.
He was born August 30, 1926, in Blackfoot, Idaho, the son of Peter R. and Martha C. Petersen Madsen.
On June 17, 1950, he married Helen Merkley.
Pete served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a pipefitter/ welder in the construction business and was a member of local No. 648 of the United Association of Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 23 and Elks BPOE Lodge 1416.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, auto repair, flying, sports, woodwork and carpentry. He also enjoyed training gun dogs and going to competitions. His greatest joy was watching the activities of his great-grandchildren.
Pete is survived by his wife, Helen; son, David (Vicki) Madsen; daughters, Kathy (David) Ivanoff and Linda Grimsrud; nine grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; brother, Ray Madsen; and sister, Louise Jorgensen. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 29, at Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 East.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation will take place under the direction of Lindquist Mortuary.
