Carma Jean Haws, 76, a longtime resident of Newdale, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, in the Rexburg Nursing Home.
Carma was born Oct. 22, 1936, at Rexburg, the daughter of Christian P. and Laura McKinlay Jensen. She grew up in Rexburg, where she attended Madison schools. She also attended the Rexburg Beautician School.
She married Clyde Warren Haws on Nov. 8, 1956, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in Newdale, where Mr. Haws farmed. Clyde died May 24, 2002.
Carma moved to Rexburg eight years ago, where she has since lived. She has spent the last several years in Mesa, Ariz., for the winters.
Carma was active in the LDS Church, serving in many callings. She served on the Rexburg Boat Club Board and enjoyed the Tuesday Bowling League, ceramics, traveling and being with people.
She is survived by her children, Laurette (Leland) Haws of Cleburne, Texas, Steven Haws of Idaho Falls, Vicki Haws of Morgan Hills, Calif., Lisa (Bart) Nelson of Newdale, Idaho, and Lance Haws of Sandy, Utah; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret "Peg" Sanders and Stella "Tillie" McCulloch.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, in the Rexburg 12th LDS Ward, 700 Park St., with Bishop Kevin Shiley officiating. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at Bidwell Funeral Home in St. Anthony, and for one hour prior to services Friday at the church in Rexburg. Burial will be in Rexburg Cemetery.
