Blaine was born Oct. 3, 1937, in Ferron, Utah, to Alma S. Petersen and Vivian Bertha Pettey Petersen. He spent his early years in Ferron, then moved with his family to Dragerton, Utah. He graduated from Carbon County High School. He then moved to San Manuel, Ariz.

He attended BYU and served a full-time LDS mission to Denmark. Following his mission, he returned to San Manuel and attended the Arizona Institute of Electronics. He lived briefly in Tucson, Ariz., before coming to Idaho Falls 47 years ago.

On April 10, 1964, he married Eva Mortensen in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together they had three children: Brian, Kevin and Robert. They made their home in Tucson for one year before returning to Idaho Falls, where they have since resided. Blaine worked as production manager for KIFI-TV 8. Eva passed away Jan. 8, 2013.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in the ward Bishopric, as a High Councilman, High Priest group leader, ward financial clerk and temple ordinance worker. He enjoyed gardening, golf, fishing, trips to Yellowstone National Park and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Blaine is survived by his sons, Brian (Dawna) Petersen and Kevin Petersen, both of Idaho Falls, and Robert (Julie) Petersen of Eagle Mountain, Utah; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Howard (Cathy) Petersen of Richfield, Utah, Allan (Sylvia) Coker of Phoenix and Richard Coker of Salt Lake City; and sisters, Doris Kalani of Lake Forest, Calif., and Peggy (Craig) Kasper of Buena Park, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eva; a brother, Sherril Petersen; and a sister, Elaine Petersen.
