Ira "Kent" Grover, 83, of Archer, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, surrounded by his family at home.
He was born Sept. 8, 1929, in Archer to Raymond Grover and Katie Browning Grover.
On Oct. 20, 1955, he married Elna H. Branson in Archer. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on Jan. 23, 1981. They made their home in Archer.
During his childhood, Kent farmed with his family until he was drafted into the Army and served in the Korean War.
After being honorably discharged, Kent continued to farm as well as work in maintenance and installation in the potato processing industry. Later, he worked at the Rexburg C-A-L Ranch, finally working as ground maintenance supervisor at Madison School District 321 and retiring in 1994.
As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he held numerous positions, his favorite being the eight years he served in the Idaho Falls Temple.
Kent was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, camping and huckleberrying with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Elna H. Grover of Archer; a daughter, Helen (De) Brown of Plano; sons, Kent J. Grover of Archer and Gary (Marilyn) Grover of Lyman; as well as 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters, Ila McBride and Ona Thompson, both of Rexburg.
Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Katie Grover; his stepmother, Ina Grover; six brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Archer LDS Chapel with Bishop Reese Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Flamm Funeral Home and again from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church prior to services. Interment will be in Sutton Cemetery with military rites.
