Elizabeth A. "Betty" Cowley Obituary

Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Cowley, 80, passed away quietly Monday, March 4, 2013, in Emmett, Idaho, from complications of Alzheimer's disease. She was under the care of the Cottages and Heart N' Home Hospice.

She was born Nov. 30, 1932, in Linton, Ind., to David N. Asdell and Lena M. Asdell. She moved to California with her family, where she graduated from North Hollywood High School.

She married Carl E. Jorgensen. They had four children and were later divorced.

She married Dale N. Cowley on Oct. 4, 1962, in San Jose, Calif. She and Dale moved the family to Boise in 1969. She worked as a secretary most of her life. In 1982, she moved to Cascade, Idaho, where she and Dale purchased and ran Grandma's Homestead restaurant. In 1989, she and Dale enjoyed retirement. They moved to Emmett in 2004.

Betty had many talents. She was a master of many hobbies. She enjoyed sewing, toll painting, making cards, cake decorating and floral arranging. She was active in her church and enjoyed organizing social events. She loved helping others and had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Lena Asdell, and daughter-in-law, Julie.

She is survived by her husband, Dale Cowley; her children, Dianne (Eddy) Brasley of Gresham, Ore., Edward Cowley of Boise, and Annette Cowley and Leanne Cowley, both of Idaho Falls; a brother, James (Sharon) Asdell; sisters, Barbara (George) Weins and Mary (Bob) Zach; a sister-in-law, Noren (David) Stringer; six grandchildren, Jay, Joel and Justin Cowley, Nicole (Cameron) Harper, Jeffery (Stacey) Brasley and Torie Cowley; and four great-grandchildren, Kat and Trey Cowley, Hayden Harper and Riley Brasley.

The family will meet with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, March 7, at Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Community Bible Church in Emmett. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Margaret Cemetery in Cascade, Idaho.
