Reva Carlson Obituary

Reva Jean Harris Carlson, 89, of Idaho Falls, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at her residence at Lincoln Court Retirement Center.

Reva was born Sept. 23, 1923, in Sugar City, Idaho, the daughter of James Alma Harris and Rachel Leone Butt Harris, the fourth of six children. She attended schools in Sugar City, graduating from seminary. Reva took voice lessons and enjoyed singing in church choirs and local events.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many callings. She worked sorting potatoes for Ucon Produce for 14 years and Sun Spice for 16 years before retiring at the age of 75.

She married Reed Carlson on Sept. 26, 1941, in St. Anthony. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on July 27, 1958. They had seven children. They lived in Parker, Idaho, until 1976, when they moved to Fourth North in St. Anthony. Reed passed away Feb. 14, 2000.

Reva lived in St. Anthony until her home burned in April 2003. After a short time at Teton House in Rexburg, she moved to Lincoln Court Retirement in Idaho Falls.

She is survived by her children, Dell Reed (Betty) Carlson of Burley, Idaho, Tawna Jean (Robert) Bauer of St. Anthony, Joe (Chris) Carlson of Idaho Falls, Myalin (Duff) Gilman of Soda Springs, Idaho, and Raschell (Robert) Dekoekkoek of Rexburg; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren with one on the way; brother, Donald K. Harris of Washington, Utah; and best friend, Alice Steel of St. Anthony.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen McNee; a son, Lonnie L. Carlson; two grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Harris Belloni and Bonnie Rae Smith; and two brothers, Leon and Wayne Harris.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, in the St. Anthony LDS Stake Center with Bishop Creed Webster officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church Saturday. Burial will be in Teton-Newdale Cemetery.
