Alice Marie Hocking Jernberg, 84, of Monteview, Idaho, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013, at The Gables Assisted Living Center in Ammon.
Marie was born Jan. 30, 1929, in Arco, Idaho, to Thomas A. Hocking and Clara V. King Hocking. She grew up in Howe and attended schools there and in Blackfoot, graduating from Blackfoot High School in 1946. She earned her bachelor's degree in teaching from Idaho State College in Pocatello.
On June 12, 1954, she married Harry Jernberg in Howe, and they settled in Monteview to farm. A homemaker, mother and farm wife, Marie also taught school at Terreton Elementary School. Harry passed away April 15, 2005.
She was a member of the Mud Lake Community Church. Marie enjoyed gardening, horses, music and her grandchildren.
Marie is survived by her sons, Dan (Becky) Jernberg of Monteview, Darrell Jernberg of Pocatello, Clyde (Leslie) Jernberg of Shelley and Cory Jernberg of Idaho Falls; five granddaughters; two grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Tom Hocking Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 5, at the Mud Lake Community Church, 1122 E. 1500 North in Terreton. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Burial will be in Small Cemetery near Dubois, Idaho.
