Dr. Goldie E. Morris, 84, of Idaho Falls, passed away Monday, July 1, 2013, at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls.
Goldie was born March 29, 1929, in Comanche, Okla., to Marion Monroe Morris and Rebecca Elizabeth Renfro Morris. He grew up in Oklahoma, California and Virginia. He moved to Idaho Falls in 1960. Goldie continued his education at Columbia Pacific University, earning his doctorate in electrical engineering and electronic technology.
On June 30, 1950, he married Frances May Hardy in Alhambra, Calif. Together they raised their two children, Marty and Lynne.
He worked as an electrical engineer for the Department of Defense and the Department of Energy. Goldie served in the Navy during the Korean War, earning the rank of seaman first class.
Goldie was a member of the Eagles Lodge and enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery and his ham radio with the call letters, KA7CYE.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Frances of Idaho Falls; son, Marty (Barbara) Morris of Idaho Falls; daughter, Lynne (Gary) Wade of Ucon; five grandchildren, Jessica (Morris) Brown, Ryan Morris, Jess Wade, Michael J. Wade and Daniel L. Wade; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Velma Morris and Carrie Morris; and three brothers, Floyd Ray Morris, Coy Morris and Neal Morris.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 5, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. The family will visit with friends from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Friday prior to services at the funeral home.
