Carol Alice Mortensen, 70, of Idaho Falls, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at her home.
She was born Dec. 29, 1942, in Salem, Idaho, to Annes G. and Maud Mortimer Mortensen. She graduated from Sugar-Salem High School and received her associate's degree from Ricks College Carol was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission in Southern California.
She was a member of the Army National Guard from 1974 until 1996 with over 22 years of service. She also worked full-time for the military in logistics in a civil service capacity. After retiring from civil service, she worked at the Rexburg Walmart for more than 15 years.
She enjoyed camping, fishing, knitting, crocheting, playing softball, volleyball, basketball and tennis. She also enjoyed horseback riding and was a member of a 4-H Horse Club.
Carol is survived by her siblings, Ellen Marie (Carlo) Erickson of Archer, Idaho, Arlene (Paul) Bauer of Pocatello, Linda (David) Sant of Clifton, Idaho, Charlotte (Clyde) Bybee of Evanston, Wyo., Maryanna Farrer of Thornton, Idaho, Veda Jean (Kent) Poppleton of Tremonton, Utah, and James G. Mortensen of Salem, Idaho; and a good friend, Margo Neider.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Annes and Kendell Mortensen; and a sister, Julie Mortensen.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Flamm Funeral Home, 61 N. First East in Rexburg. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sugar City Cemetery with military rites by the Madison County Veterans and the Idaho Honor Guard.
