James Richard "Jim" Sobieski, 72, of Idaho Falls, passed away Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, in Island Park.
He was born March 10, 1941, in Idaho Falls to Frank Sobieski and Lena Pearl Staker Sobieski. He grew up and attended schools in the area, graduating from Bonneville High School. He joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War.
On Sept. 21, 1963, he married Helen E. Kinghorn in Elko, Nev. James worked for Iron Works in Whittier, Calif., for two years. He lived in Idaho Falls for most of his life and worked as a fireman at INEL.
James spent his summers at his cabin in Island Park, where he enjoyed riding four-wheelers and loved spending time with his family.
Survivors are his wife, Helen Sobieski of Idaho Falls; sons, Robert (Lana) Sobieski of Shelley and Scott (Amy) Sobieski of Idaho Falls; brother, Dee Sobieski; sister, Dawn Ann Noakes; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Alan Sobieski; sisters, Francis, Ruth and Betty; and brothers, Bud and Jack.
