Jeffrey Pierson

Pierson, Jeffrey C. 68, of Okeechobee, Florida, passed away suddenly on August 21, 2013. Born in Plainfield, New Jersey on March 21, 1945, he was the son of Mary Shoemaker Pierson Doyle and Dr. Howard (Ted) Wilson Pierson, Jr. A graduate of Gill St. Bernard's School, Gladstone, New Jersey, Jeff excelled in various activities and sports and became a New Jersey State Wrestling Champion in his weight class. Jeff attended Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut and graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor's degree in history. With a curiosity, interest and expertise in both music and electronics, Jeff founded and operated Audio Fidelity, Inc. in Gary, Indiana, which catered to audiophiles interested in state-of-the-art electronics. Subsequently, Jeff served in national sales positions for several major electronics firms, including Panasonic and Toshiba. Jeff was passionate about his hobbies, which included boating, fishing, motorcycle racing, constructing and flying model airplanes and shooting. Predeceased by both parents, Jeff is survived by his two children, daughter Phoebe (Douglas) Carleton of Wilmette, Illinois and son, Jonah S. Pierson of Ellington, Connecticut; his five grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Jadan, Griffin and Teagan Carleton and Matthew and Joshua Pierson. He is also survived by his brothers, Stephen (Arlene) Pierson of Seymour, Indiana and Benjamin (Teresa) Pierson of Greenville, South Carolina; four nieces and one nephew. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 26th in the Dixon Chapel at the First United Methodist Church at the Chicago Temple, 77 W. Washington Street, Chicago, IL. Contributions in his memory may be made to the National Wildlife Federation.
