Horace McMaster Obituary

Horace A. McMaster Sr., 82, of Blandon, formerly of Roxborough, Philadelphia, died Oct. 3, 2012, in the Southeastern Veterans Center in Spring City,Pa.
He was a retired Assembler For The Budd Co. Of Phila. and also worked as a Customer Service Rep. For Continental Bank

Mr. McMaster Sr. was born in Phila., PA, the son of the late George and the late Margaret Devonshire McMaster.

Mr. McMaster was born and raised in The Roxborough section of Phila. He was a graduate of Roxborough H.S. He also was a former member of The Roxborough Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of Masonic Fritz Lodge #308.
Horace was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War Conflict as a Staff Sergeant from 1949 - 1952.
He served for the 1st Calvary Division in Tokyo Japan at the end of WW2 and was later transferred to the 24th Infantry Division and was assigned to the 24th Recon Company.
He was a leader of the Rifle Squad and was very well known for his sharp shooting skills and expert marksmenship ,a skill that his fellow soldiers appreciated greatly. He was awarded two Bronze StarMedals with the V device for Valor along with a Combat Infantry Badge and a Expert Rifflesmans Badge.
He is survived by his wife Sara (Doan) McMaster; two daughters: Judy Stotesbury (Skip) of Roxborough, Philadelphia and Suzann Barrett of Blandon; one son Horace A. McMaster Jr. of Royersford; two brothers Harvey McMaster of Philadelphia and Herbert McMaster of Brookhaven.
He was predeceased by his daughter Jeannie Barassatian and his siblings George, Evelyn, Mary, Laura, James and Margaret.
A Memorial Service Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. in the Friedens United Church Of Christ, 337 Main St. Oley, Pa. 19547. Interment will be at a later date at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to Southeastern Veteran Center, One Veterans Dr. Spring City,Pa. 19475.
Funeral arrangements are by the Lownes Funeral Home of Lafayette Hill,Pa.
