Arlis R. Thomas

ARLIS R. THOMAS, 87, OF POTTSTOWN Arlis R. (Richard) Thomas, 87, of Pottstown, wife of the late Matthew Thomas, passed away on Tuesday at Berkshire Center in Reading. Born and raised in Boyertown, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Gertrude (Nester) Richard. Arlis was a member of Grace Gospel Chapel in Gilbertsville, where she sewed for those in need. She enjoyed reading, embroidery, and puzzles. She would plant flowers and enjoyed gardening. Arlis loved her family and cats and enjoyed gathering with her family and friends on holidays and special occasions. Surviving are sons, Barry D. Thomas, husband of Sharon of Pottstown; Dennis Thomas of Breinigsville, and James Thomas, husband of Karen of Pottstown; daughters, Patricia Levengood of Oley, Sheila Thomas of Royersford and Anita Brutto, wife of Rick of Exeter; brothers, Stanley Richard of Hereford and Eden Richard of Birdsboro; sisters, Arlene Weidner of Boyertown and Edith Ellwanger of North Coventry Twp.; stepdaughter, Nancy Lea of Montana; stepdaughter-in-law, Emma Thomas, wife of the late Matthew Thomas Jr.; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and five step-grandchildren. A funeral service will be Tuesday, October 30, 11 a.m. at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 711 N. Franklin Street, Pottstown, with Keith Keyser officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Boyertown. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
