ARTHUR J. PYRON, 60, OF POTTSTOWN Arthur J. Pyron, 60, of Pottstown, loving son of the late Winford A. Pyron and the late Mary I. (Novak) Pyron, passed away at home of natural causes on July 30, 2014. A professional geologist, Arthur consulted with Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, municipalities, and private individuals, providing his expertise in oil and gas exploration and production, geological evaluation, and environmental applications. Arthur sat on the advisory board of two energy companies, including Mesa Energy Holdings, Inc. (now Armada Oil, Inc.). He graduated from Pottstown Senior High School with the Class of 1972. He was a graduate of LaSalle University with a Bachelor of Science degree, and received his Master of Science in geology from the University of Texas - El Paso. In addition to publishing more than fifty technical papers, Arthur pioneered the concept of applying "virtual exploration" to the oil and gas industry, through the use of computer applications. Arthur was an Earth Science professor/instructor at Delaware County Community College where he enjoyed engaging his students in exploring the world through the lens of science. Arthur had a life-long love of music, especially Americana, and of playing the guitar. He was a devoted member of St. Gabriel's Church in Stowe. Arthur is survived by an Aunt, Anna (Novak) Lucas, and numerous cousins with whom his loving spirit will forever reside. A memorial service will be held at St. Gabriel's Church on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the Church beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother Memorial Fund, 127 E. Howard Street, Stowe, PA 19464.
