Barbara Kathryn Ryan

BARBARA KATHRYN RYAN, 86, OF REAMSTOWN Barbara Kathryn (Hockenbrocht) Ryan, 86, of Reamstown, widow of Rev. William S. Ryan, was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on December 20th after a complicated battle with pulmonary fibrosis. She fought the good fight, has finished the race, and left a legacy of faith. Born in York on August 16, 1926, Barbara was the daughter of the late Charles and Esther (Yordy) Hockenbrocht. She was raised in the York County area. She faithfully served by her husband's side as a pastor's wife with numerous church families in Eastern Pennsylvania. Additionally, she spent 21 years as a teacher's aide at Berks Intermediate Unit. Many adored her vivacious spirit and love for her Lord Jesus Christ. Barbara was an active and engaged member of Community Evangelical Church in Sinking Spring, PA. She was involved with Child Evangelism Fellowship and participated in the 50+ group. Lovingly called Mom and Memaw, her utmost joy in life was her family. She was never without photographs or a story to share about events and milestones of her beloved great grandchildren. She was fond of traveling to many places, especially the beach with her beloved Bill, family, and friends. She is survived by her son, William S. Ryan II and his wife Karlene of Reading; daughter, Sheryl E. Leese and her husband Edgar L. of Easley, SC; granddaughter Michelle (Leese) Ashley and her husband Joey; granddaughter Jessica (Leese) Henderson and her husband Brandon; grandson Brett Ryan and his wife Shelby; grandson Edgar J. Leese and his wife Felicia; granddaughter Audrey (Ryan) Drago and her husband Damien; and 16 great grand children. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an older brother Charles (Bud) Hockenbrocht, and a son, Jay Richard Ryan. A viewing will be held on Sunday, December 23, from 3 to 4:30 P.M. at the Community Evangelical Church, 51 Great Valley Road, Sinking Spring, followed by her funeral service at 4:30 P.M. with Rev. Michael C. Snedeker officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
