Bernice Pennington

Bernice Pennington, 85, of Ruscombmanor Township, passed away Feb. 19, 2013 in her residence.
She was the wife of the late Ira E. Pennington, who passed on Nov. 21, 2000.
Born on June 7, 1927 in Temple, she was the daughter of the late James Field and Katie (Turner) Field.
Bernice had worked for the former Red Cheek. Inc., Fleetwood for many years. Prior to that she had worked for the former Reading Laundry. She loved nature and her bird feeders attracted all kinds of wild life to her yard. Bird watching and identification was her passion. She especially loved the hummingbirds that came to her feeders.
Bernice had no children of her own, but she raised her nephew Earl R. Stufflet, Jr., husband of Carol (Ringler) Stufflet, of Shoemakersville. Bernice and her husband Ira thought of Earl's and Carol's children as their grandchildren; Rick Stufflet, husband of Marci (Palm) Stufflet of Shoemakersville and Lisa (Stufflet) Motz, wife of Benjamin Motz of Reading. Their children were loved as great grandchildren; Andrew Stanislaw, Madelyn Stanislaw, Bethany Stufflet, Steven Motz, Sara Motz and Ethan Motz. Bernice has a cousin "Betty" Jean Harris of Mancelona, Michigan. She had many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. Also a group of wonderful neighbors and friends who supported her. Lastly to her very sweet cat named Bunny.
Bernice was preceded in death by nine sisters and one brother.
A viewing was held Monday morning at the Mae A Stump Funeral Home, Inc., 117 West Main Street, Fleetwood. A funeral service followed at 11 a.m. Burial in Hope Cemetery, Dryville.
