Bruce Miller

Bruce G. Miller, 66, of Fleetwood, passed away April 24, 2013 in St. Joseph Medical Center. He was the husband of Lois A. (Gottschall) Miller.
Born in Lebanon, he was a son of Earl and Grace (Fittery) Miller of Myerstown.
Bruce graduated from Bethel High School in 1964. He earned an associate's degree from Penn State in mechanical engineering and attended Temple University.
Bruce was a member of Fleetwood Fire Company for more than 25 years served in every aspect in the company, from firefighter, engineer, EMT, line officer, and Deputy Chief. He became an EMT instructor in 1988, served with Fleetwood paramedic squad 690 as a paramedic assistant, became a EMT instructor in 1993, and followed by becoming a state certified PA-DOH vehicle rescue instructor, and PA fire instructor. Bruce was known in the region for his rescue expertise and was often called to a scene to consult on difficult rescues in the area.
Bruce was a mentor to many people inside the fire company, and was a true leader in every aspect of the word. He was instrumental in helping Fleetwood Fire Company obtain it's first aerial truck, and followed by organizing the funding for the current tower truck.
Bruce was also an avid hunter and fly fisherman and member of the Kutztown Dutchmen Hunting Club.
He was a Mason and a member of F. & A.M. Amherst Lodge No. 0981.
Bruce was the vice-president and general manager for Dechert Dynamics Corp in Palmyra and was also a co-owner of PRO Barrier Engineering in Middletown. In addtion to his parents and wife, Bruce is survived by: son, Michael C. Miller, husband of Amy L. of Alburtis; sister, Linda, wife of Robert Houser of Bethel, and brother, Vick Miller, husband of Lillian of Davenport, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be held in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Ave. Mount Penn on April 30 at 11 a.m. Friends may call on Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Interment in Berks County Memorial Gardens.
