Charles R. "Ray" Houchins Jr.

Charles R. "Ray" Houchins Jr., 88, of Limerick Township, Schwenksville, Pa., husband of Gladis M. (Rosenmiller) Houchins, died Friday, Nov. 2, at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Charles R. Sr. and Maude (Davis) Houchins.
Mr. Houchins was a graduate of Penn State University with a degree in animal husbandry. He was employed for many years in heating and air conditioning as a technician. A United States Army Air Force Veteran of Foreign Wars he served during World War II as a tail gunner. He was a member of Heidelburg United Church of Christ, Schwenksville. Mr. Houchins had an interest in wildlife and the environment. He loved the outdoors, farming and gardening as well as caring for cats and dogs.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Barbara H., wife of Hugh Connor, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Karen H., wife of Joe P. Grimes, Villanova; stepdaughters, Lisa, wife of Bob Muench, Philadelphia, and Joanne, wife of Bob Donehower, West Chester; two grandchildren, Seamus Connor and Sean Grimes; and two step-grandchildren, Jason and Kelsey Donehower.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Nov. 17, 2012 at Heidelburg United Church of Christ, 251 Perkiomen Ave., Schwenksville. There will be no viewing.
