CHESTER W. ROHRBACH, 97, OF TOPTON Chester W. Rohrbach, 97, of Topton, formerly of Bechtelsville, husband of the late Marion (Hirsch), passed away on Thursday March 20, 2014 in the Lutheran Home at Topton where he resided. Born on his grandparents' farm in Eshbach, he was the son of Aaron H. and Mary (Miller) Rohrbach. Chester graduated from Boyertown High School in 1934, and from Keystone Normal School (now Kutztown University) in 1936. He also received his masters degree from Temple University. Prior to World War II
he taught in the Bechtelsville and Strausstown Elementary Schools. From 1946 to 1980 he was with the Boyertown Area School District as a junior high school teacher
, elementary principal, and 12th grade social studies teacher. During World War II he was with the U.S. Army and served in the 79th and 86th Infantry Divisions, serving in both the European and Pacific Theatres of Operation. He was awarded the Bronze Star
and was honorably discharged in 1946. Chester was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, 1749 South Main Street, Bechtelsville, PA 19505. He was also a member of Keystone Fire Company, Bechtelsville, and he served as President of the Bechtelsville Borough Council. He is survived by his sons Bruce C. (Anne) of State College, William A. of Baldwinsville, New York, and Robert C. (Denise) of Coopersburg. Chester is also survived by his grandchildren Brian, Jennifer and Aaron Rohrbach, and his great grandchildren, Jack and Harry Rohrbach. Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church Wednesday March 26, 2014 at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home on Tuesday March 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday at the church from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in Bechtelsville Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Chester's name to the Trinity Lutheran Church Trust Fund. Arrangements by the Linwood W.
