CHRISTINE GRIGG, 96, FORMERLY OF POTTSTOWN Christine (Grubb) Grigg, 96, formerly of Pottstown, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Simpson House, Philadelphia. She was the wife of the late Morrell Edward Grigg, who passed away on December 14, 1968. Born in Pottstown, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Rachel May (Snell) Grubb. Mrs. Grigg was a 1933 graduate of Pottstown High School. She retired from the Pottstown School District, where she worked as a receptionist for approximately 15 years. Prior to working for the school system, she was a salesperson for the former Kessler's of Pottstown. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Pottstown and former member of the Women's Club of Pottstown, the Elk's Club and the Brookside Country Club. Mrs. Grigg enjoyed reading, playing bridge and was an avid sports fan, especially events in the greater Pottstown area. She cherished the time spent with her daughter and grandchildren. Her husband was a teacher, coach and Director of Athletics at Pottstown High School, where he was memorialized by having the PHS football field named for him after his death. Survivors include one daughter, Christina G., Martin of Merion; two grandchildren, Christopher Martin and Amanda Sheehan, and three great-grandchildren, Julia and William Martin and Braedyn Sheehan In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Grigg was preceded in death by her brothers, Peter and Samuel Grubb, and her sisters, Anne Grubb and Katherine Baird. A memorial service will be held 12 noon on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Houck & Gofus Funeral Home, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown. The Rev. Will Humes will officiate.
