David J. Strock Sr., 85, husband of Mabel I. (Pierce) Strock, of Elverson, passed away on Wednesday morning, March 5, 2014, in the Hickory House Nursing Home, Honey Brook. Born in Harmonyville, he was a son of the late Josiah and Susanna (Hall) Strock.
Mr. Strock was a 1947 graduate of the former Warwick High School, where he participated in soccer and basketball, and excelled in baseball, earning him the nickname "Rip." He had been employed at French Creek Granite Company then Bethlehem Steel Grace Mines in Morgantown. David was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed watching football, but especially loved his family.
In addition to his wife of 65 years, Mr. Strock is survived by his children, David J. Jr., husband of Gloria (Hiriak) Strock, of Pottstown, Donald J., husband of Deborah (Murrian) Strock, of Weston, FL and Debra J., wife of Earl Ireson III, of Elverson; four grandchildren, David III, Shelli, Earl and Dane; five great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Dylanie, Brody, David IV and Izabelle; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Agnes Fredd, Josiah Strock, Corbin Strock and Thelma DeHaven.
Relatives and friends held a Celebration of Life on Saturday, March 15, 2014, from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford. A memorial service was at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Donald B. Eisenhauer officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in David's name to the
