Dorothy M. "Dot" (Burkhart) Henry, 87, of Gilbertsville, wife of the late Thomas E. Henry III, passed away Friday, April 20, 2013 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown.
Born in Birdsboro, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Breitenstein) Burkhart.
Surviving her is her daughter Lisa A. Vega, wife of Osvaldo Jr., of Gilberstville, son, Clay T. Henry, husband of Lorraine R., of Millersville, Md., and sisters, Marie Houp and Alice Herbein, both of Birdsboro. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Beth A. Adams, wife of George Adams, Catherine L. Henry, Emily R. Copson and Michele G. Henry, as well as her great-grandson, Dillon T. Grim.
Dorothy was a devoted member and Sunday school teacher at Falkner Swamp UCC Church in Gilbertsville. She graduated from the Franklin School of Science & Art Inc. in Philadelphia in 1945 with a diploma degree in medical laboratory tech. She then graduated from Albright College in 1949 with her B.S. in biology. She worked as a medical technologist and laboratory manager for more than 40 years.
Dot golfed in the women's league at Twin Ponds for a number of years and enjoyed aerobics, sailboating, tennis, skiing, bowling and horseback riding.
A memorial service will be Wednesday, at 12 p.m. at Falkner Swamp UCC Church, 2077 Swamp Pike, Gilbertsville, PA 19525 with the Rev. Carlton H. Borden officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the church.
Memorial donations may be made in Dorothy's name to the church at the above address.
