DWIGHT M. 'DUB' ACKERMAN, 62, OF ROBESON TWP. Dwight M. "Dub" Ackerman, 62, of Robeson Township, PA, died on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at the Reading Hospital, Reading, PA. He was the husband of Carol S. (Bernhard) Ackerman, with whom he shared 29 years of marriage. Born in Pottstown, PA, he was a son of the late Dr. Harold M. Ackerman and Marie (Bitting) Ackerman. Dwight was a 1967 graduate of Boyertown High School and earned a B.S. in Education from Bloomsburg University, where he served as past board member of their alumni association. He was a marketing representative in the publishing industry and affinity fundraising for approximately 20 years. Passionate about helping others, he served as member and past president of Pheasants Forever, Berks-Lebanon Chapter for 25 years, the Hay Creek Watershed Association, and various other fundraising organizations. An avid sports fan, he and his wife Carol enjoyed watching all of the Philadelphia professional teams as well as college sports. He was an avid skier, fished in local streams and ponds, and hunted deer and small game. Surviving in addition to his wife are one son, Shane M. Ackerman and his girlfriend, Lauren Christman of Raleigh, NC; one sister, Doris J. Ackerman, wife of Michael Levengood of Exeter Twp., PA; two nephews, Christopher Ackerman and Brad Bernhard, and one niece, Wendi Herbst In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jay M. Ackerman. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, September 24, 2012, and from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at the Houck & Gofus Funeral Home, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte Street, Pottstown. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Steven E. Lybrand will officiate. Interment will be in Pottstown Cemetery- West, Pottstown.
