EUGENE F. FORREST, JR., 88 Eugene "Gene" F. Forrest, Jr., 88, husband of the late Lorraine E. (Harwood) Forrest, died on Friday, December 6, 2013 at the SoutheasternVeterans Center, E. Vincent Twp. He was a former resident of Montrose, Hatfield, and Lower Frederick Twp. Mr. Forrest was born on July 27, 1925, in Reading, PA and was a son of the late Eugene F. Forrest, Sr. and the late Emma A. (Stott) Forrest. He grew up in Norristown where he formed and led a drum and bugle corps. During World War II
, Mr. Forrest served as a Pharmacist Mate 2ndClass, US Navy, in the Pacific. As a medic with the 1st Battalion, 3rdMarine Division, he was wounded on Guam and received the Purple Heart
. Before he retired, Mr. Forrest was a truck driver for North Penn Transfer and a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Mr. Forrest is survived by his children, Eugene "Gene" F. III, husband of Gail (Jennings) Forrest, Kirkwood, NY; Sharon, wife of Raymond Weygand Jr., Elkton, MD; Trudy, wife of Gary Gray, Littleton, CO; Judy, wife of William Oxenford, Bailey CO; E. David, husband of Stephanie (Kowalczuk), Lower Frederick Twp., PA; his stepchildren, Frederick "Fred" husband of Brenda (Moore) Van Keuren, Batavia, OH; Clifford "Pete" Van Keuren, Perkiomen Twp., PA; Ann (Van Keuren), wife of Robert Becker, Lansdale, PA; Elaine (Van Keuren) Hermance, Navarre, FL: Carol (Van Keuren) Himko, Clifford, PA.; his first wife, Gertrude M. (Ward) Forrest, Littleton, CO.; his sister, Marilyn, wife of Jay McCormick, Grand Junction, CO; 23 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Lyle S. Forrest, his grandson, Eugene "Skeeter" F. Forrest, IV, and his brother, Edwin D. Forrest. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 8, at the Holcombe Funeral Home, Inc., 21 Main St., Trappe, with the Rev. Daniel Schaefer, Pastor, Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schwenksville, officiating. Burial will be in Schwenksville Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
