Harold R. Kulp

HAROLD R. KULP, 86, OF EAST COVENTRY Harold R. Kulp, 86, husband of the late Dawn M. (Mowrer) Kulp, life-long resident of East Coventry Township, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2013 in the Reading Hospital. He was a son of the late C. Rudolph and Mary Jane (Hershberger) Kulp. Mr. Kulp graduated from the North Coventry High School, and attended Agronomy short courses at Penn State University. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a Dairy Farmer on his family farm for over 50 years. Mr. Kulp was also a Lifetime Deacon of the Coventry Church of the Brethren, and was a representative for the On Earth Peace ministry. He was a member and served in various leadership positions of the Farm Bureau Company, the Ayrshire Association, the Chester-Del Farm Bureau, the Pennsylvania State Conservation District, the Interstate Co-Op Board, the Chester Country Land Preservation Board, the East Coventry Township Planning Commission, and was recently elected Director Emeritus of the Chester County Conservation District. He was a member of the Kolb-Kulp-Culp Family Reunion committee of East Greenville, PA. Mr. Kulp was also a member of the Coventry Hunting Club, the Baby Beef Club during his high school years, and was a lifelong member of the PA Grange. He always looked forward to and enjoyed spending time with his family. Mr. Kulp is survived by two daughters, Tina M., wife of Lyle Essick of Pottstown, and Susan G., wife of the late Harry S. Ferry, of Villanova; two sons, Eugene H., husband of Grace Kulp of New Holland, and Edward A., husband of Kay Kulp of Pottstown; sister, Phyllis, wife of the late Vernard Eller, of California, and sister-in-law Ann, wife of the late Paul Kulp; 13 grandchildren, Jamie (Joshua) Gregory, Jon (Kelly) Essick, Jody Essick, Sarah (Matthew) Webster, Elizabeth (Kevin) VanPelt, and Rebecca, Daniel, Kaitlyn, Kelly, Aaron, Aimee, Hannah, and Mary Kulp. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral services at the Coventry Church of the Brethren, South Keim Street and East Cedarville Road, Pottstown, PA on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Sandford J. Christophel. Burial will follow in the East Coventry Mennonite Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Church on Sunday evening, March 24, 2013 from 5-8:30 p.m. and from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Monday morning at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Coventry Church of the Brethren, 946 Keen Road, Pottstown, PA 19465.
