Harry E. Hill

HARRY E. HILL, 57, OF PHOENIXVILLE Harry E. Hill, 57, of Phoenixville, PA, formerly of Trappe, PA, died Saturday evening, September 29, 2012 in the Season Hospice at Phoenixville Hospital. Born in Norristown, PA, he was a son of the late Harry E. Hill Sr., and Helen M. (Wharton) Hill. Mr. Hill was a graduate of the St. Eleanor's school in Collegeville and the Bishop Kenrick High School in Norristown. He worked as an equipment operator for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in Chester County. Mr. Hill was a very well known mummer for many years. He was a member from 1976-2003 and a former captain of the Greater Overbrook String Band. For the last nine years he was a member of the Woodland String Band. He is in the mummers' hall of fame and the string band hall of fame. Mr. Hill also played the drums and sang for the "Les Cleaver and the Gallant Riders" and the "Rainbow 4 + 2 country western bands. Mr. Hill was also a life member of the Trappe Fire Company #1. Mr. Hill is survived by two children, Michael E., husband of Kelly A. (Welker) Hill of Trappe, PA, and Shauna N., wife of Michael A. LaMagna of Boyertown, PA, and four grandchildren, Charlotte and Nathan LaMagna, Connor and Evan Hill. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral Mass at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 3rd and Reed streets, Philadelphia, PA 19147 on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. Friends will be received from 2 - 3:15 p.m. Thursday afternoon at the Church. The graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 6, at 12 p.m. at the Green Tree Cemetery, 1078 Egypt Road, Oaks, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in his memory to the "Woodland String Band", P.O. Box 33221, Philadelphia, PA 19142.
