Hazel Mildred Mease

HAZEL MILDRED MEASE, 89, OF DOUGLASSVILLE Hazel Mildred Mease, 89, of Douglassville, PA, passed away March 19, 2013 at Coventry Manor, Pottstown. Hazel was born September 12, 1923 in Caldwell, Idaho, to Milton Kauffman and Jessie Bassett Kauffman. She was graduated from Juniata Joint High School. Hazel married George Mease on June 26, 1943 and was a homemaker much of her life. She also worked as a dishwasher at the Douglass Grille. Mrs. Mease was a life-long Lutheran and was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Stowe. Hazel was a kind and gentle lady. Her request would be, as she concluded her mealtime graces, "Help us to live Christian lives." Mrs. Mease is survived by three children, son, James of Douglassville, who cared for his mother for the past eight years; daughter, Susan and her husband, Harry Lytle of Schellsberg, PA, and son, Kenneth and his wife, Lois of Bethlehem, PA. She is also survived by five granddaughters, Amy Mullins, Angela Mease, Amber Leto, Abigail Francis and Addie Mease. Hazel also has eight great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 2005; her daughter, Carol Ann, in 2004, and her brother, Joseph Kauffman, in 1942. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 3 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dengler Funeral Home, 144 N. Spruce St., Birdsboro.
