James D. Lafferty

JAMES D. LAFFERTY, 72, FORMERLY OF POTTSTOWN James D. Lafferty, 72, a resident of Berlin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Berlin, Maryland for the past two years, formerly of Pottstown, husband of Judith A. (Sterner) Lafferty, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, at Atlantic General Hospital, Berlin, Maryland. Born in Pottstown on August 2, 1940, he was the son of the late James D. Lafferty and Anne (Radke) Lafferty. He and his wife Judith retired to Selbyville, Delaware, (West Fenwick Island) 11 years ago. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1960-1962, worked as an insurance agent for seven years for Prudential Insurance Company, ran a wholesale bread route for Maier's Bakery for 25 years, and drove school bus and town bus for Pottstown Transit, Inc. Surviving with his wife of 54 years are sons, David A., husband of Gail; Jeffrey S., husband of Roxanne; Daniel J., husband of Stephanie, and James R., husband of Susan; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Scott, Matthew, Ashley, Jacob, Abigail, Angela and Joshua, and a great-granddaughter, Addison. Also surviving is his brother, Randall P. of Beaufort, South Carolina, and a half-sister, Emily Pauline Kerr of Pottstown. He was predeceased by a half-sister, Sarah Jane Roberts. A memorial service will be Monday, February 18, 10:30 a.m. at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 711 N. Franklin Street, Pottstown with Rev. Joseph Dietz officiating.
